Counselling You & Me
After our brief introduction by telephone, email or text, I will then suggest an appointment to meet and assess whether counselling could be the right form of support for you.
Within this meeting we can check together to see whether you feel comfortable both with the therapeutic process and working together. This time also provides a great opportunity to ask any questions that you feel uncertain about. Contract and client details will need to be completed, signed and mutually agreed before your initial counselling appointment can take place .
At this stage of connecting there is no obligation to commit to counselling as you may need further time to reflect before commiting fully to the counselling process.
If additional support was requested or needed to compliment our work then I would be able to assist with referral to other appropriate services
Confidentiality & Supervision of Practice
As with all BACP registered counsellors I adhere to the BACP Code of Ethics and Practice which requires counsellors to meet, on a regular basis, with a MBACP (Accred) supervisor to ensure the quality and effectiveness of my work is maintained to the highest level thereby ensuring a high standard of care to clients. Information shared within sessions would be kept confidential. However, as required by law there are certain exceptions that would be clarified with you at your first counselling session.
Cancellation or missed appointments
Private Practice Clients
Once contracts are signed and you have been given an allocated space this time will not be given to anyone else.
Cancelling or rearranging your appointment requires 2 weeks notice. Exceptional circumstances will always be considered before charging for a missed appointment.
I will always try to find an alternative appointment if possible but please note that this may not always be possible as I run a busy practice throughout the week.
Missed appointments through non attendance will be charged.
Organisational Contracts
If an organisation cancel the agreed daily rate will still be charged. This is due to the short notice given which does not allow adequate time to allocate alternative work. Advanced notice of 2 weeks is required to avoid charge. Exceptional circumstances will always be considered before charging for a missed day
Car Parking
Free parking and disabled spaces including access available directly outside offices.
Emergency Assistance
If you are unable to contact me immediately and feel you are in crisis please view the Samaritans website which provides a 24 hour helpline service.
Please continue to read further on and if you feel you might benefit from taking about your situation, I would both welcome and look forward to your contact
